Inspired by my recent trip to the Great Smoky Mountains, “Dreaming of the Dawn’s Early Light” is a 4-layer reduction block print on Stonehenge cream paper.

The title is a “before and after” combination of 2 song titles from a couple of my favorite “songwriting string-bands,” in The Fretliners (Dreaming of the Dawn), and the late Jeff Austin (who penned Dawn’s Early Light with Yonder Mountain String Band).

This print is a “variable edition.” When printing the second layer, I used a rag to wipe some ink off the block to create clouds and texture in the sky. As a result, each print is completely unique.
