Adventure in Color #3: Flipping Backward
“Flipping Backward” is an abstract piece created from a single hand-carved block. The first layer is printed with a diagonal yellow > pink fade. For the second layer, I flipped/rotated the block 180 degrees and used a complimentary green > blue fade working perpendicular to the first fade-layer. The transparent inks work in layers to create a full-spectrum of color.
These experimental prints are always exciting in that I never truly know what the finished piece will look like until we’ve reached that end point - it’s one of my favorite aspects of this style of printmaking!
